Just wondering...

I had this thought most of yesterday and it continues today...

What if we elected a government based on the impact their decisions might be able to have around the rest of the world instead of merely just on how their decisions might impact us locally?

I've thought a lot about this lately. (And over the last 5 years or so.) What I have observed with governments that choose to impact the "world" as an institution, on behalf of its people,is that the people sit back and let that happen. Their mentality becomes one of "our gov't takes care of that." I actually see a trend that human nature takes its course and individuals become less generous.

I see the same pattern when there is a "state religion."

So I continue to believe that the church (a group of individuals sold out for Christ) is the hope of the world.

Good point Kris, I too believe it is up to the church, I guess my thoughts have been more along the lines that I need to think about how our government impacts the rest of the world, not just how it impacts me, I feel like our leaders make a huge impact, both positive and negative globally and that I need to consider that as I consider my vote.
